Background Aquatic

Aquatic pertains to items that operate predominantly in different water forms, such as seas, oceans, rivers, lakes, ponds, etc.

Examples of aquatic assets: vehicles, boats yachts, personal water crafts (PWC) etc.

Personal Watercraft (PWC)

A personal watercraft (PWC), also called water scooter, jet ski or sea-doo, is a primarily recreational watercraft that is designed to hold only a small number of occupants, who sit or stand on top of the craft, not within the craft as in a boat.

Sea-Doo’s Search and Rescue (SAR)

Sea-Doo went all out with its Search and Rescue units (SAR). According to Sea-Doo, the SAR watercraft includes the specific features you need in order to respond to life threatening situations.

The machines are ideal for rescue situations involving surf, whitewater rafting, floods, or use along rocky coasts.

They are equipped with Sea-Doo’s Off-Throttle Assisted Steering to give the operator more maneuverability when laying off the throttle.

This helps in aiding people in distress and will also assist in maneuverability in out of tight spaces. It also adds an additional steering effect to the steering mechanism.

Sea-Doo designers also had the forethought to set Sport mode as the default setting on the Search and Rescue model because it provides the necessary acceleration in emergency situations.

Another great feature is a shallow water kit which is made up of an anti-debris water intake grate, stainless steel wear ring, internal heat exchanger, and shock protected cooling system. The kit drastically improves maneuvering the PWC through shallow waters.

The watercraft is outfitted with Sea-Doo’s Rotax 1503 naturally aspirated 4-TEC engine, which has an internal heat exchanger with shock-protected closed-loop cooling system. It also comes with electronic IBR.

A Universal Key makes for an unlocked system for quick deployment by rescue team member. The fuel filter is elevated for easy access and prevents water from entering the gas tank during refuels.

The Interactive Multi-function Digital Information Center is top notch. It reports over 20 important operating functions such as fuel level, which also provides the time and distance until a refuel is necessary.

The watercraft is equipped with a plethora of extras to keep operator and passengers safe like an emergency floating lanyard, safety kit, and many more safety features.

The Sea-Doo SAR is only available to institutional customers, such as commercial clients, government agencies, and other specialized industries in the business of rescue.

The Sea-Doo SAR are equipped with dual professional grade Hypalon sponsons for increased stability and buoyancy. Running boards ensure safe footing when reboarding on the sponsons. It also an easily deployable reboarding step located at the stern. The step flips up so it’s out of the way when not in use. When required, just flip it down. The hulls are coated with a 2.8 MM Elastomer, which helps minimize shock and abrasion.

The hulls on the SAR machine are 38-percent larger than Sea-Doos’ other watercraft. The larger size adds increased stability. The PWC also includes a heavy duty front bumper The Sea-Doo SAR has room for three on its touring seat and is equipped with attachments behind the seat for an optional rescue sled.

Red and green navigation lights come standard with this ride. Lights are located on the front and the rear of the PWC. The rear navigation light is mounted on a carbon fiber pole so it can easily be seen by other vessels during night operations.

The SAR model may be another contender. It’s a bad ass looking machine and appears to perform as well as it looks.

While we only touched on some of the many unique Search and Rescue features, dig into the Sea-Doohas some well put together videos featuring the SAR and rescuers in action. The designers of this watercraft really put some time and thought into building it and we’re amped!

Landing Craft (Boat)

Landing Craft designed for both work and pleasure. Has a wide drop door/ramp in the bow for easy loading and unloading of ATV’s, equipment, or cargo. The boat available with a flat, shallow-V or deep-V bottom depending on the intended use and water conditions. It is available in several styles, including center console, open tiller and cabin designs with inboard or outboard power. The Landing Craft is built with 5086-H32 and 5052-H32, the finest marine grade aluminum alloys available for maximum strength and durability.

Depending on the boat width, there are seven, nine or eleven stringers running the full length of the bottom for maximum bottom strength. The 3/16″ or 1/4″ bottom is joined to the 1/8″ or 3/16″ ribbed sides by a custom designed extrusion that is double welded for the greatest strength possible. The top gunwhale can be a special extruded handrail or formed, for extra strength and a cleaner fisnished appearance. For best possible quality and performance, the Koffler Landing Craft is continually being tested and improved. Each Koffler Landing Craft is custom built to suit the customer’s needs.

Background Pardo Yacht:

The brand Pardo Yachts produces minimalist yachts and open yachts. There are 8 models currently in production ranging from 11 to 23 meters.

The walkaround range by Pardo Yachts is synonymous with performance, usability and comfort. Easily manageable boats, designed to sail safely, without neglecting style and elegance. Ideal for those who choose functionality and an iconic design.

Pardo yachts, planning on utilization of Pardon yachts sizes 38, 43 and 50 feet in length. Shallow draft (deep in water) between 3 and 4 feet. Important for near shores and intercoastal waterways (water depths about 12 feet).

About/History of Pardo Yachts:
The brand entered the market in 2016, but the parent company, Cantiere del Pardo, also known as CDP, has been in the industry for over 40 years, so the yachting community never doubted the new brand.

CDP launched the brand to expand its range when it decided to enter the motor yacht segment. For this purpose, Zuccheri Yacht Design created the Pardo 43. The firstborn made a lot of noise. Firstly, the company has sold 40 hulls in less than a year, which certainly underlines the demand for the project.

Current status
As a surprising turn of events, in August 2023, fashion house Calzedonia Group obtained 60 per cent ownership of the company and is eager to keep the yacht brand’s uniqueness.

Production of Pardo Yachts
The company has a yard in Forli, near Bologna. The covered dock occupies about 40,000 sq.m. Other Cantiere del Pardo brands, including the Grand Soleil sailboats, as well are assembled at the site. The total number of vessels has already passed over 4,000 copies.

Pardo Yachts model range
Under the Pardo Yachts brand, one can find designer motor yachts from 11 to 22 metres in GRP. All models develop over 35 knots. That is to say, they enter into the category of high-speed boats.

Features
Cantiere del Pardo has always attracted customers with the comfort of its boats and attention to detail. The high-quality motor boats of their new brand are no exception. Deep step V hulls give Pardo yachts good controllability at high speeds. The main deck is built on one level, while high bulwarks provide safety.

Pardo 38 Specifications
The motor yacht Pardo 38 is produced by the brand Pardo Yachts since 2019. The Pardo 38 is a 11.90 meter designer motor yacht with 2 guest cabins and a draft of 0.90 meters which can reach speeds of up to 45 knots. Vision Marine Technologies — electric outboard motor for boats — Background

E-Motion 180: World’s most powerful electric outboard

Vision Marine Technologies in Canada just announced that it will start selling its new E-Motion 180, the most powerful electric outboard in the world, new outboard.

The E-Motion 180 delivers the same power as a 180-hp combustion engine. It provides 650 V and is paired to a 60 kWh lithium battery. Vision Marine Technologies, formerly the Canadian Electric Boat Company, is a high-tech builder, just north of Montreal, and it says it is the only electric outboard manufacturer to use lithium and the only one to offer a long-duration warranty.

“We finally achieved the balance we sought between power, functionality and autonomy,” said Alexandre Mongeon, the CEO and co-founder of the company. “We have surpassed our expectations in every aspect.”

He said that with the E-Motion 180, the company has reached the tipping point in the development of electric-powered boats. Now that the outboards are for sale, he says, “we are formally ushering in a new era in the recreational boating experience.”

Vision Marine Technologies says it “strives to be a guiding force for change…by disrupting the traditional boating industry with electric power.” It says the E-Motion 180 is “the first electric purpose-built outboard powertrain system that combines an advanced battery pack, inverter and high-efficiency motor with a proprietary union assembly between the transmission and the electric motor design utilizing extensive control software.”

Electric outboards produce no emissions, no noise, odor or smoke and the company says they result in a 90 percent reduction in fuel and maintenance costs compared to traditional gasoline outboards.

The company also makes five models of electric-powered boats from 15 to 22 feet. It has a partnership with Tourism Quebec and Transport Canada to provide up to 15 electric boats for a rental and water taxi business along the waterways near Montreal. Read more:

Dray Dock. – Background:

Dry Docking is a method of ship repair being practiced for decades. It is a process of manufacturing, repair and maintenance of ships in an area known as the ‘lock’. In simple words, a lock is like a ‘garage’ for repairing ships. The only difference being, a lock is constructed aligning the shore for easy manoeuvre of the ship and sea water drainage.

The main purpose of a Dry Dock is to expose the underwater parts for inspection, repair and maintenance. The ship to be repaired is hence manoeuvred into the lock and the gates are sealed post which all the sea water accumulated in the vessel is drained for better inspection and repairs.
